The beginning of June is here, and in the happy nostalgia side of things it is the last day of the A-kon anime convention I used to go to every year in Texas.
It also reminds me of a time when I came to a realization of how murder affects lives. It was the beginning of June when I heard news of a friend's fiancee being murdered by a sick serial killer. The Railway killer took over 15 (possibly over 20) lives as far as we know, and surely affected countless more with senseless and brutal murders. I'm not a religious person, but times like this I pray to whatever is out there. for a more just and meaningful world.

He was executed two years ago, but I didn't feel any sense of justice. He was a sick disgusting man, but I still don't enjoy the death penalty. I just want to stop and capture any other like-minded individuals before they can destroy more lives. An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind, but aren't we blind ourselves in becoming jaded for letting other violent murder cases go unsolved? I cannot stay depressed about this because if the statistics put out by the justice departments are correct, then the violent crime rates have steadily gone down. The world is savage, but only so because there are so many people to love, and that which we love is what hurts most to lose.

Well, my old roomate kinda screwed me over and I have to miss class today to sign papers for the moving comapany. I, however, am making some proverbial lemonade out of this by youtube-ing it up. I shall post gems and cool link here for you to check out....that's right I filter through some rough and mine diamonds for you all.

First up is the titular song (well part of it) from Phantom of the Opera...in Japanese!
(This is the one with Phantom plus several other numbers form other musicals)

Secondly we have the great George Washington video(occasional swearing, but assured laughter not quite safe for work).

You've seen the wel-known Numa Numa, but have you seen it done up, Navy Style?. I can't wait until I start having fun in the "real" Navy. XD

Well that is all for now, enjoy those three if you haven't checked them out. I might add more, but then again...I might not. =p

Life continues and I am doing fine.

I've been doing this Chinese thing since...July, was it? We're getting pretty far along and moving at an incredible pace. Right now I just use the upcoming break (Dec.22.05 to Jan.08.06) to motivate me to keep it up. I'm miss things at home so much. I shall be spending most of my time in San Antonio, and I might swing by Austin or Dallas if enough people actually want me to go too.

I have been in this odd "funk", for lack of a better term, for the past couple of weeks. I hate it when people say they are "depressed" when they have everything to live for, but it sometimes happens and you don't why. A big shout to anyone who has had a birthday or special event.

Well, I never know what to do with these posts, so I shall just end it no...

Ciao,
-Kyle

P.S. Castlevania:DoS/Castlevania: CoD/Phoenix Wright/Guitar Hero is pretty cool. [k.star and the Jakes] will rock your world!

Hmm, it has been awhile since I've posted in my own journal. I'll give it shot, and I actually updated my style (I think I do that more than I post in here).

Anyway, life in Monterey is pretty good. Yeah, I have to put up with some stuff every so often, but it has been a great experience so far. I now have my Chinese books, study materials, mp3/cd player, PDA, and such. I have also met my teaching team...they seem great by the way. Things look great, and if everything goes as planned, I graduate form Chinese class on October 26th 2006. O_O

In case you didn't know I messed my calf muscles up during initial training, and am now going to physical therapy twice a week. I'm doing fine, but central California if full of hills...EVERYWHERE.

Sorry if I haven't kept in touch with you, things have been busy, and my mind is occupied with so much. However, that doesn't mean you can't send an e-mail or call me up. I still have both the same e-mail and phone number that are in this journal.

I always can't think of what to type while I'm actually posting an entry, so I'll leave it at this:
再见, zaijian, goodbye.

People were asking, so I'm answering.

Tomorrow (Friday) shall be the going-away get together/party/social/whatever. It may be a movie night, it may be a yak fest, who knows? If you show up, change the mood of the party to fit what you want. I'm leaning to everyone bringing movies or something...but I'm up for anything. Just don't do drugs around me (it is sad that I have to disclaim)...I'll kill you if you make me test positive for some drug test.

Anyway...get the word out EVERYONE is invited since I suck at getting the word out. Come have fun. If it is just two of us, then kickass. We can do something and say we did other things. Yay.

K, out.

If I can waste about 3 hours watching the 77th Academy Awards, I can post in this beast.

Anyway, I got the job I wanted from the Navy I described in the post below. I'm leaving EARLY on March 15th (~2 weeks!). If you want to see me before I leave for my training contact me. email = "lanquin" at gmail.com (bot safe...if you can't figure it out, you're better off not using the e-mail). My cellular phone number (I'll probably keep it active until right before I leave) is 210-DEAD-DAD or 210-(332)repeating until you get that magic 7. If you don't want to do either, just drop me a comment. Anyway I put in my last day at the civilian job and I'm ready for basic, language training, tech training, and being a super-spy. XD

If you're reading this, odds are I'd like to see you before I go. Oh, and the Gungrave anime is very nice. Ciao...and come see me before I leave and become a ::gasp:: man.

Well, I'm probably going to join the Navy. I've been thinking about it for years, and now I'm going to give it a shot. This is an infinitely difficult choice and I've thought it out, but I'd love to hear anyone's opinion on it, I don't care if you've never commented, or even if you're a lurker that I don't even know in person. XD

So, I've been talking to recruiters, looked at my options, and even took their little sample ASVAB test. I was informed that based off of how I performed on the latter, I could (pending my actual test results) get any enlisted job I wanted. So, I naturally thought CTI...which are Cryptologist Interpreters (meaning international radio transmission spies). What can I say, I love languages. My plan is to take the military's language test (they give you some made-up language and you try to figure it out...there is pretty much no way to study, and I doubt it'll be A Romance-esque fake language. So there goes what little I remembered from Latin class...sadly this former Latin Honor Society officer can barely conjugate, decline, or translate a bit (I do remember most of the conjugation exceptions like: dic, duc, fac, and fer).

Bleh, tangents.

Anyway, if I test and they let me be a CTI that translates Chinese, I'll be happy. The recruiter wants me to be part of some nuclear power program, but math is not my thing...linguistics is more my thing (well, it isn't theatre...but I can't afford the poor actor life right now). If they tell me I can't do that, I'm probably not going to sign a thing, and I'm out. No worries there guys. CTIs don't see combat, and even if they did, the Navy is not involved in the operations/invasions of the Middle East going on at the moment. Oh, CTI should also net me a sign-on bonus of $12,00...which most of will go into a savings account. So, yay.

That's all for this post, I hope you enjoyed the rare update.

"Thank you, and goodnight."

Honestly, where does one start to create a simple summation of one's life in the past four months? Well, I shall try my best.

I have not one, but two "new" jobs.
The first one is at GameStop, and that was great for a bit. Then I finally caved and got a job that actually gave me hours. So, Kyle is now a security guard.

I got involved in another car accident...I'm beginning to think I have horrible luck with vehicles. I'm always so safe with them, but the single moment I do the slightest reckless(I hate phonetic puns while typing) thing...BOOM!

Anyway, I do miss just about everyone reading this. Oh, and if anyone lives in the San Antonio area (and if you live near me and go to college) and wants to help with transportation for next semester, your help would be graciously appreciated, and I could get you some gas money. I just really need to go to college, and I don't think I can fix the car problem with the money I have right now.

Argh, I'm just so lucky to be alive and healthy...but I'm a greedy American. I'm never happy with what I have. On a good day you could call it ambition, but I loathe it all.

In lighter news I still have a 40% discount at Barnes & Noble Booksellers until the twelfth of December if anyone in interested.

I don't feel like typing anymore LJ nonsense right now. ^.^;;

This post is dedicated to the Texan in Nemuro: Ben. I hope you're safe and not snowed in.
